Hello Pocopson Elementary School Families,

Please take a moment to review the Communications Packet, which is also found on our PES website.

News: In Our Building

1.  Family Fun Indoor Movie Night is this Friday, January 20th.  Storks will be shown in the PES Gym.  Doors open at 6:30 pm and the movie will begin at 7:00 pm. Snacks will be available for cash only. PJs are welcome. Bring a blanket and come on out for a night of fun! Parents, please remember this is a family event. You are expected to stay with your children the entire time.

2.  Girls On The Run - Pocopson GOTR is looking for coaches for the spring season (3/13-6/3).  We usually run a large team of 30 girls but are currently in need of coaches so that we will be able to open registration in a few weeks.  No experience necessary, training, full curriculum and supplies provided.  You do not need to be a runner, just have a great attitude and lead a bunch of young ladies through an amazing program to help foster growth of strong spirits, bodies, and friendships.   We cannot run this program without you!  For questions, see the link below and contact the Y through the volunteer tab, contact Alexa Hart -  ahart@ymcagbw.org.  Additional questions, contact Christy Pickar - cpickar31@comcast.net

8.  Discovery Zone in the PES Library: THANK YOU PARENTS, FOR ALL THE DONATIONS SO FAR.  WE ARE ALWAYS IN NEED, SO KEEP THEM COMING!!!! The library is up and running, and so is our maker space; the Discovery Zone.  The DZ is made possible by a very generous grant from the PTO.  With that grant, we were able to get start-up and non consumable materials such as, K'Nex, Legos, Keva Planks, Sphero and ozobot programming robots, etc.  Along with these materials, we have consumable products; the kind that once used, need to be thrown away, and we can always use donation of these type of products.  These products include:

NEEDED for the DIscovery Zone:  Box Lids!  Any size and shape, but they must have sides.

  • String
  • Yarn
  • Embroidery Floss
  • Cardboard
  • Toilet and paper towel cores
  • Packing tape
  • Plastic grocery store bags
  • Paper bags
  • Mint or candy tins (like Altoids)
  • Leftover PVC pipe
  • Packing materials
  • Recyclable plastic food containers (please wash!)
  • Gently used Legos - if you have some to spare, we would really appreciate it.

If you can provide any of these items, please send them in with your child or drop them at the office. Also, if you have any building materials such as blocks, lincoln logs, etc. that you are getting rid of, we would love those too! We thank you SO much!
