News: In Our Building

1.  Community Service Update

Thank you to EVERYONE at Pocopson that participated in our Holiday Community Service projects.  Thanks to your incredible generosity we were able to help many families in our community and the surrounding area.

A quick recap so you can all see how our wonderful community is able to make the holidays brighter for many.  Through our Giving Tree we donated over 200 toys to the Kennett Area Community Service Christmas Baskets program, gave gifts to 30 residents of Pocopson Home and helped many families within our school district.  Through our Hats, Socks and Mittens drive we were able to give hats, socks and mittens to the students at our sister school, Stonehurst Hills.

Your generosity is greatly appreciated and does not go unnoticed.

Have a wonderful holiday season!

Thank you,

Nancy Jones, Renee Lowe and Tracy Wahl

The library is up and running, and so is our maker space; the Discovery Zone.  The DZ is made possible by a very generous grant from the PTO.  With that grant, we were able to get start-up and non consumable materials such as, K'Nex, Legos, Keva Planks, Sphero and ozobot programming robots, etc.  Along with these materials, we have consumable products; the kind that once used, need to be thrown away, and we can always use donation of these type of products.  These products include:

NEEDED for the DIscovery Zone:  Box Lids!  Any size and shape, but they must have sides.

  • String
  • Yarn
  • Embroidery Floss
  • Cardboard
  • Toilet and paper towel cores
  • Packing tape
  • Plastic grocery store bags
  • Paper bags
  • Mint or candy tins (like Altoids)
  • Leftover PVC pipe
  • Packing materials
  • Recyclable plastic food containers (please wash!)
  • Gently used Legos - if you have some to spare, we would really appreciate it.

If you can provide any of these items, please send them in with your child or drop them at the office. Also, if you have any building materials such as blocks, lincoln logs, etc. that you are getting rid of, we would love those too! We thank you SO much!
