Please join us for our next PTO meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, November 14th at 9:30 a.m. in the library. Our PTO will discuss upcoming events and will welcome Mrs. Kathryn Markloff (4th Grade Teacher at PES) to give a short presentation on Brain Based Strategies in Education and Growth Mindset. This is a great opportunity to hear about current research on the brain and how students learn best! It's really interesting stuff! We look forward to seeing you tomorrow!
Hats, Socks and Mittens for Stonehurst Hills Elementary
Each year we ask ALL students at Pocopson to purchase a set of mittens, a hat, and a pair of socks to donate to our Sister School – Stonehurst Hills Elementary in Upper Darby.
Our goal is to give every student in this needy school a gift of a new hat, mittens and a pair of socks for the holidays. Our schools are very similar in size so please purchase based on your child's size and gender. Please deliver them to your homeroom teacher by Friday December 15th. The 5th grade students will be wrapping them again this year.
If your family would like to do more, Stonehurst Hills is always in need of various arts and craft supplies as well as school supplies. Anything would be greatly appreciated.
Any questions please feel free to contact a staff member in the main office or email Tracy Wahl at firstname.lastname@example.org

The Discovery Zone in our PES library is more popular than ever! We especially need parent volunteers to help in this area on Wednesdays from 12:15-1:15 and Fridays from 12-12:30! Our library staff will provide you with a quick training to get you up to speed.
The Discovery Zone is also in need of duct tape, packing tape, and cardboard roll donations! If you can provide any of these items, please send them in with your child or drop them off at the office. We thank you SO much!

NEWS: IN OUR DISTRICT
TOMORROW: What Parents Need to Know About Teen Substance Use and Abuse
The FOCUS Parent Network Presents: What Parents Need to Know About Teen Substance Use and Abuse. Is it “normal” for teenagers to binge drink? Are teens today taking the same risks teens took a generation ago? What substances are adolescents really using these days, and how will they affect their developing brains? How can parents effectively talk with their kids about this challenging topic? What initiatives are in place in UCF School District to help our children make healthy decisions about alcohol and drugs?
Please join us to discuss these questions and much more at our next FOCUS Parent Network meeting. This event will feature a panel of experts to answer your questions and open lines of communication between parents and school representatives on this critical issue in our community.
