Important Message About Patriot Pride Fundraiser & Tomorrow's Fun Runs

Greetings Pocopson Families,

We have loved seeing your kids sport silly hairstyles, PJs, wacky outfits, and grade colors this week.  We hope that they are enjoying spirit week and are gearing up for the fun run tomorrow … the weather forecast looks beautiful.

The PTO would like to extend a huge thank you to the families that have already sent in their donations to our Patriot Pride fundraising campaign.  To date, we have raised just over $11,000 with 37% of Pocopson families having contributed.  As a reminder, this is our PTO’s primary fundraiser this school year and our goal is to earn $15,000, so please keep the donations coming in.  Here is a breakdown of contributions by grade:

Kindergarten - $805

1st grade - $1915

2nd grade - $745

3rd grade - $2450

4th grade - $2485

5th grade - $2755

The PTO, on average, spends $75 on each student every school year.  Examples of ways that the PTO uses donated money include purchasing iPads and chrome books for classroom use, purchasing bus notes and student planners, funding student assemblies and author visits, purchasing teacher banners, funding teacher grants to enrich learning, and much more.

100% of the money that is raised through this campaign goes directly back to Pocopson.  If you have not already donated, please do so today, either online on our school’s website (www.pes.uscfd.org) or by submitting payment through the Patriot Pride envelope.  The PTO could not provide school enhancements and enrichment opportunities to students without your support so, again, we thank you!

INFORMATION ABOUT TOMORROW’S FUN RUNS:

Here is the schedule for tomorrow’s fun runs:

9:30 - 10:30 …….. AM Kindergarten & 1st Grade Run

11:00 - 12:00 …….4th & 5th Grade Color Run

1:30 - 2:30………..PM Kindergarten & 2nd/3rd Grade Run

All parents are encouraged to come cheer on their children as they run.  Please remember to have your children wear comfortable clothing and running shoes.  Students will have several water breaks throughout the run and kids will also collect colored bracelets for every lap that they run.

The 4th and 5th graders will be participating in a Color Run in which organic color powder will be tossed on them by teachers as they run.  4th & 5th graders should wear white so that the color will show up on their clothing.  These students will be given a pair of sunglasses to protect their eyes from the color power.  If students wish to bypass the color, there will be an “EZ Pass” lane in which they will instead collect a colored bracelet for each lap they run.

Parents of 4th & 5th graders, please have your child bring in a plastic bag, towel, change of clothing, and a packed lunch tomorrow so that they can enjoy an outdoor picnic after the run.

We look very forward to seeing you and your children at tomorrow’s fun runs.  As always, we appreciate your support and involvement.

Sincerely,

The Pocopson PTO
