Hello Pocopson Elementary School Families,

News: In Our Building

1.  Box Tops Collection:  The semi-annual Box Tops for Education contest is happening in February!   Please check the expiration dates and trim all your box tops.  Put them in an envelope or zip lock bag and send them to school.  Each class has a container for the kids to deposit their box tops.  The class from each grade with the most box tops wins a pajama day and a movie.  Any class that collects 500 or more box tops will win a pajama day.  Please have all your box tops submitted by February 24th

We collected $975 in box tops in October.  Thank you for your support!

2.  MLK Day Collection Update:

Thank You to those who contributed to the coin collection jars in the lobby and in the cafeteria leading up to MLK weekend.

Our school raised $179.83 to fight hunger and support the Kennett Food Cupboard.

10.  Discovery Zone in the PES Library: THANK YOU PARENTS, FOR ALL THE DONATIONS SO FAR.  WE ARE ALWAYS IN NEED, SO KEEP THEM COMING!!!! The library is up and running, and so is our maker space; the Discovery Zone.  The DZ is made possible by a very generous grant from the PTO.  With that grant, we were able to get start-up and non consumable materials such as, K'Nex, Legos, Keva Planks, Sphero and ozobot programming robots, etc.  Along with these materials, we have consumable products; the kind that once used, need to be thrown away, and we can always use donation of these type of products.  These products include:

NEEDED for the DIscovery Zone:  Box Lids!  Any size and shape, but they must have sides.

  • String
  • Yarn
  • Embroidery Floss
  • Cardboard
  • Toilet and paper towel cores
  • Packing tape
  • Plastic grocery store bags
  • Paper bags
  • Mint or candy tins (like Altoids)
  • Leftover PVC pipe
  • Packing materials
  • Recyclable plastic food containers (please wash!)
  • Gently used Legos - if you have some to spare, we would really appreciate it.

If you can provide any of these items, please send them in with your child or drop them at the office. Also, if you have any building materials such as blocks, lincoln logs, etc. that you are getting rid of, we would love those too! We thank you SO much!
