2.  Kennett Run FUNDRUN 14 May 2016

The Kennett Consolidated School District and the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District have always been big participants of the Kennett Run.  With 10 schools amongst them, they represent an important and youthful pool of runners.  The FundRun allows us to thank the schools for their participation by giving back $5 for each student, staff or teacher registered to their specific school "team".  The school with the most participants from each District in the race will also win an additional prestigious prize.  Last year Bancroft Elementary won for KCSD while Patton Middle for UCFSD with 26 and 12 runners respectively.  I am sure that this year we can generate many more students, faculty and staff to proudly run for their school. Almost $1000 was returned to the two Districts in 2015. The FundRun participants can run the 1mile run/walk, 5K or 10K races. Presently we have runners as young as 4 doing the 1 Mile and three youngsters of 6 doing the 5K.  Remember to encourage your youngster or student to register for the race and make sure to click on their school team on the registration page.  All the information can be found at http://www.kennettrun.net/

Participants can select Pocopson Elementary School as their team when registering.

7.  Bricks 4 Kidz- April 6th - May 11th 3.30-4.30 PM "Interesting Inventions" Most objects we use on a daily basis were invented by someone. Find out the origins of things like the hand mixer, windshield wipers and conveyor belts. During this unit, students will discuss the difference between an invention and a discovery, learn how inventions solve problems, and find out how inventors get their ideas patented. Each week, students are encouraged to think of what they could invent, or improvements they could make to an existing object to solve a problem. So many things we use each day are someone's invention. Introduce your student to the world of ideas, creativity, inventions and patents. We will construct different familiar objects each week such as a hand mixer, windshield wipers and a conveyor belt. Each model is motorized for maximum movement and fascination! Start creating! To register please visit www.bricks4kidz.com/exton or call 484 341 0004.

8.  Patriot Pride Campaign:  The PTO is planning a fundraiser for September 2016 that is 100% parent run.  This will be in place of Boosterthon for 2016.  All profits will go straight to PES.   We have many ideas, but need committee members to help organize the event.  Please help us plan this campaign.   Much of the planning and organization will need to be done this spring prior to summer break.  Email danielledarmo@hotmail.com to volunteer.  Thank you!!

9.  Your Library is looking for donations of the following:

  • thin cardboard (like food boxes) and also corrugated
  • PVC Pipe Pieces and Connectors (I'm sure you have them lying around!)
  • empty mint/candy times (like Altoids etc.)

News: Miscellaneous
