Hello Pocopson Elementary School families,

Please take a moment to review the Communications Packet, which is also found on our PES website.

News: In Our Building

1.  Our first PTO meeting this year will  be held on Thursday, September 8th at 9:30 in the Library.  If you've ever wanted to get involved, now is the time!  Want to come and see how you can volunteer?  Don't have time to volunteer yet, but want to find out what's going on in your child's school?  Whether you have 5 minutes or 5 hours to give to the PTO, we're happy to have you!  Coffee/tea and refreshments will be provided.  Children are welcome!  We often invite guest speakers of interest from our school and from the district. Clif Beaver will be our guest speaker at the first meeting of the 2016-2017 school year. Mr. Beaver will discuss the results of the climate survey. We hope to see you there!

2.  Patriot Pride:  SAVE THE DATE!  The Patriot Pride Spirit Week and Fun Run will be held from September 19th - 23rd, with the week's events culminating in a Family Fun Night and Movie Night on Friday, September 23rd.  Bring your family at 5:30 pm for a picnic dinner at PES (food and treats will be available for purchase) then stay for an indoor movie night at 7:00 pm. This year's fun run and spirit week will be run entirely in-house with 100% of the donations going directly to our school and our children.  More information will be coming home on Friday, September 16th after our opening Pep Rally.

News: Miscellaneous

1.  Barnard's Orchard: Thanks to an outstanding community response, The Land Conservancy for Southern Chester County (TLC) has secured the funds to preserve Barnard's Orchard in perpetuity! TLC would THANK all of those who donated or pledged gifts and spread the word.

IF YOU DID NOT GET A CHANCE TO DONATE...  please note that for every farm like Barnard's Orchard there are at least three more currently under threat of development. Now is your chance to help change the conversation from "Such a shame - I remember what that used to look like before it was developed" to "I remember when the community came together to save that land!" Keep the movement going to support local farms for future generations through TLC's Funds for Farms!
